John Montague was born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised just 30 miles north on Amelia Island. After attending Fernandina Beach High School, John graduated from Stetson University, where he earned a degree in Accounting. John earned his J.D. at the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law, where he would later became a visiting Professor teaching Entrepreneurial Law classes in the College of Business.
John’s decade of legal experience includes working on major real estate transactions as an associate with Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A and working on Venture Capital, M & A, and private equity transactions at the prestigious AM Law 200 firm Locke Lord LLP. He has also worked with a variety of national and international clients advising on the legal intricacies related to digital assets securities regulation and exchange compliance.
Since returning to his North Florida roots and opening up his own firm here, John has focused locally on real estate transactions and estate planning, while maintain a presence on the international digital assets and crypto currency stage, becoming one of the most experienced and well connected attorneys in this niche space. John is passionate about providing “white shoe” services with big law experience to his Amelia Island/Jacksonville neighbors as well as his clients all over the world.
When not focused on the practice of law, John enjoys prone paddling around Amelia Island, surfing, biking, and hiking, and most importantly spending time with his wife and their dog Benji.
